Any Organ.
Anywhere.
Organ Profiling, the proprietary Translation Engine, and Professional Tuning — three tools that let organists record at any organ and perform anywhere, and give technicians a complete professional platform for pipe organ work.
Includes all Symphony features
A Note on Organ Profiling and Physical Tuning
Organ Profiling is designed for church organists and organ technicians alike. Organists who are familiar with their instrument’s stop list and MIDI system can complete the profiling process themselves. For organists who prefer assistance, a qualified organ technician or experienced colleague can create the profile on your behalf — it only needs to be done once per instrument.
The Professional Tuning tools are designed for trained pipe organ technicians and organ builders. Physical tuning and voicing of pipe organs requires professional expertise — improper adjustment can permanently damage pipes. If your instrument requires tuning, please contact a professional pipe organ service company in your area. For technical questions about WatsonMIDI, contact support@watsonpipeorgan.com.
Organ Profiling
Build a Complete MIDI Blueprint
Every Maestro feature begins with a profile. The Learn Stops workflow captures your organ’s complete MIDI layout — its stops, divisions, channels, and MIDI system — creating the foundation for Translation and Tuning. Organists and technicians alike can complete this process.
Connect your iPad to the organ via wired USB-MIDI or wirelessly via CME WIDI Jack, then walk through each division drawing one stop at a time. WatsonMIDI records the exact MIDI events your organ sends, classifies each stop by family and footage, and saves a complete semantic map of the instrument. A profile only needs to be created once per organ.
- ✦ Captures stop names, family, footage, and raw MIDI events for every draw knob or tab
- ✦ Detects MIDI channel assignments per division automatically
- ✦ Supports Peterson, Matters, Syndyne, Rodgers, and all standard MIDI implementations
- ✦ Records expression pedal assignments, couplers, tremulants, and installation notes
- ✦ Profiles travel with shared recordings automatically — no separate file needed
Every Organ.
One Library.
Profiles are saved to your device and available instantly. Switch the active profile when you arrive at a new instrument — the Translation Engine and Tuning tools update automatically.
The My Profiles screen shows every saved instrument with its stop count, manual count, MIDI system type, builder, and year. View the raw MIDI events captured for each stop, add stops to existing profiles, or share a profile with a colleague or technician.
- ✦ View, edit, and manage all saved organ profiles in one place
- ✦ Set any profile as active with one tap — instantly updates all Maestro features
- ✦ Share profiles with colleagues or backup to iCloud Drive
The Translation Engine
Record your registrations at home on your organ. Walk into any church with a WatsonMIDI-profiled instrument — anywhere in the world — and your music plays back with appropriate stops automatically substituted. The Translation Engine compares the stop list of the organ where a recording was made with the stop list of the destination instrument, and maps every stop to the closest available equivalent.
How the Algorithm Works
The Translation Engine applies division gating, stop family classification, footage matching, and multilingual synonym matching to generate a deterministic translation map. Given the same two profiles, it always produces the same base map — reproducible and verifiable.
Every stop mapping is scored and assigned one of four quality tiers:
- Perfect Exact name, footage, family, and division match
- Good Same family and footage, name differs
- Possible Partial match — manual review recommended
- Unmapped No suitable match — stop will not play
You can manually override any mapping before playback. Overrides are saved per profile pair and persist across sessions.

The Entire Chamber.
WatsonMIDI’s professional tuner combines sub-tenth-cent pitch detection with MIDI-triggered note playback. Stand inside the chamber with your iPad. The app plays each pipe and reads the pitch. No assistant needed at the console.
Select a rank by name from the organ profile — the Chromatic Walk triggers each pipe in sequence at a configurable dwell time. Tap Pause to hold a note while you work on a difficult pipe. Tap Play to advance. When Auto-Advance is enabled, the walk steps forward automatically the moment a pipe reaches pitch.
- ✦ Sub-tenth-cent accuracy using a professional-grade 5-stage hybrid pitch detection pipeline at 48 kHz
- ✦ Four display modes: Strobe, Strobe Arc (Peterson VSAM-style), Needle, and Spectrum analyzer
- ✦ Auto-Advance: walk steps forward automatically when pitch is confirmed in tune
- ✦ Pause to hold any note while you work — tap Play to advance when ready
- ✦ Historical temperaments, temperature compensation, and celeste beat-rate tuning
- ✦ Full session log with per-pipe data — export as PDF for service contract documentation
